Red Barn Pottery is pleased to offer private pottery lessons, beginning in January 2018. We offer private classes rather than large classes with ten or fifteen students, because one-on-one attention allows greater teacher-student personal interaction and greater instructor focus on the development of each student’s pottery skills and artistic sensibilities. Private lessons also allow students to personally choose the area or areas on which they wish their lessons to focus, such as wheel throwing, hand-building, or sculpture.
Lesson Fees:

Two student lessons (friends, couples sharing lessons). . $75 per hour (10 min. cleanup time included)
Practice sessions (immediately following lessons only). . $10 per hour per person
Glazing must be under instructor supervision during lesson-time.

Firing charges must be paid in advance of firing.
Beginning tool kits are available over the internet (e.g., Amazon.com) or at a brick and mortar store (e.g., Odd Nodd Art Supply, Lansing’s Reo town, Runyan Pottery Supply, Flint, Rovin Pottery Supply, Ann Arbor. A 2 foot x 2 foot shelf space is provided to students during their lessons for storage work, tools, etc.
To arrange for private lessons, call Jane Hildebrand at 517- 881- 5675. She will put you in touch with an instructor who will arrange lessons (in four lesson modules) and discuss your areas of interest. Lesson payments are to be made to Red Barn Pottery LLC, 4098 Zimmer Rd., Williamston, MI, 48895. Payments are due in advance for each four-lesson module. Checks or Cash (in an envelope) can be left in Jane Hildebrand’s mailbox at Red Barn before the start of the next lesson module. Any payment made must be labeled with name and lesson dates. The option of using Paypal is available as are money transfers from Chase or MSUFCU. (Contact Jane for further info)
If for any reason, you decide not to continue with lessons before your last paid lesson module is completed, any remaining unused portion of your payment will be refunded in full.
